Top 5 Dell Accessories for 2010

2010 might go down as a banner year for Dell accessories as a number of new items join the ranks, some of the better models from last year remain available, certain products have been updated for 2010, and some of the less desirable models have been the shown the door. Choosing the top 5 Dell accessories for 2010 was a difficult chore that ultimately boiled down to choosing the most useful Dell accessories in relation to what the market has to offer.

Dell Wireless Keyboard & Mouse - People can be really selective when it comes to their hardware, but ultimately user interface all comes down to input and output. To that end, the top of the line wireless keyboard and moue combo from Dell are actually very good compared to the competition yet remain remarkably affordable and easy to use. The wireless mouse eschews the new trend of adding a billion and one buttons, but still offers a classic 2-button design plus a third button and scroll wheel. The wireless keyboard uses softer plastics that feel upscale and the chiclet-style keys are both trendy and ergonomic. Despite their low price points, both the wireless mouse and keyboard feel solidly built and substantial. When it comes to affordable yet useful Dell accessories, it is hard to top the wireless keyboard and mouse combo.

Dell AY410 Multimedia Speaker System - While the keyboard and mice comprise the input portion of how humans and computers interface, sound is one half of how computers communicate. While true audiophiles might want expensive systems with elaborate features, most consumers will find the AT410 to a be a pleasant surprise. Now in its 4th generation, the AY410 is a 2.1 configuration, meaning that it has two speakers and a subwoofer box. The petite size of the speakers makes them easy to place but they do pack a lot of power for their size and have a great range running from a low 65 Hz to 17 KHz. When it comes to affordable audio quality most people do not think of Dell accessories until they hear the AY410's crisp audio output and sharp range definition.

The SX2210T 21.5" (55cm) Multi-Touch Monitor - The other, and arguably primary, way in which computers interact with humans is via the monitor. The SX2210T takes this to a whole new level but it is not via the full HD capability or the integrated webcam. Those are a big part of the attraction, but the SX2210T is unique amongst other monitors in its class because it has an integrated multi-touch pane backed by a software suite complete with multi-touch alternatives to popular programs such as Microsoft Paint.

The OptX AW2310 23" Fully 3D Monitor - One of the most surprising and exciting Dell accessories is a fully 3D monitor. While it might not seem fair to offer two Dell accessories that fall into the same general category, there is certainly an argument or two to favor both the SX2210T and the AW2310. The AW2310 is the culmination of several months of design work by both NVIDIA and Dell, and it allows 3D output that rivals and even surpasses that offered by the big screen. Home entertainment might never be the same again, although there are only a few games that support the technology at this point in time.

The Dell Streak - What conversation about Dell accessories could go without the obligatory nod to the not-quite smartphone, not-quite tablet, not-quite MID that the company calls the Streak? It is sort of like a large iPod Touch but not quite iPad sized device that runs Android and packs a lot of custom apps under its sleek skin. The streak may or may not get a bigger brother known as Thunder in the near future. If it does, then this list will need to be aptly renamed to something along the lines of the top 6 Dell accessories as the Thunder is likely to go head to head against the iPad in much the same was as the Streak goes head to head with the iPod Touch.

Dell accessories are an excellent option for anyone who needs a reliable peripherals, printers, or more. Take your time and compare Dell Accessories in order to find one that suits your needs.
