The Amazon Kindle Breakdown

Why should you buy it?

- Screen with high contrast.

- Easy access to comprehensive catalog of e-books from Amazon, blogs, magazines and newspapers.

- Wireless connectivity

- Built in keyboard. This allows the user to take down notes easily.

- Slot for SD card memory expansion

- Compatibility with Mac and Windows.

- iPhone users are offered iPhone e-book reader known as Kindle for the iPhone and that is available totally free.

Why it can turn you off?

- Bad design.

- Looks aren't great. An elegant looking device makes the user feel proud holding it.

- Heavy price tag of $359.

- Wi-Fi feature could have better use if Kindle had full browser installed.

- Black & White screen is good but it would be better if full color option is also included, mainly for browsing and reading periodicals.

And last but worst reason, most probably the worst lowdown for the Kindle, the fact - It use it's own and exclusive proprietary format of e-book. You will not be able to load any E-Book which is not from Amazon. But at the same time you can send the book to your Kindle and they will convert them free. Still this particular process can be tedious if have got lot of eBooks that you want to read but is not able to because it's not supported by Kindle.

Kindle's technical specification includes -

6 Inch E-Ink electronic display (diagonal)
600x800 resolutions @ 167 dpi
Gray scale, 4-level,
10.3 Ounces.

Verdict -
If you want to buy an e-book reader which provides you with the exact replica of a real book, then the Kindle is for you. If you are fan of Amazon, then there is no reason why one shouldn't buy it only if you have got no objection with the price tag.
