Razer Chimaera 5.1 Wireless Gaming Headphones For Xbox

Gamers always care for having good audio to come with their game play. It just seems to enhance the overall experience. For Xbox 360 gamers, Razer has a new device to offer in the form of the new Razer Chimaera 5.1 Wireless Gaming Headphones.

The Razer Chimaera 5.1 is a convenient wireless headphone for Xbox 360 gamers that features a 5.1 channel Dolby Surround Sound quality provided without wires via 5.8GHz wireless technology. The headphones also feature adjustable circumaural ear cups for better comfort with independent audio and mic controls for its flexible microphone boom. It also includes a detachable Xbox Live communication cable for use with other gamers. The Razer Chimaera 5.1 can go for up to 8 hours of continuous use on full charge, more than enough time for even the hardcore Xbox gamer. It is currently available for pre-orders at Razerzone for US$200.  These wireless gaming headphones are expected to ship sometime in April.

NEC Medias N04C, The Thinnest Android Smartphone Yet

DoCoMo, a Japanese telecom company will be introducing another Android smartphone next month. But it may not just be another Android smartphone per se. It is the new NEC Medias N04C Smartphone, considered as the world’s thinnest to date.

The NEC Medias Android Smartphone features a form factor that is just 7.7mm thin and weighs a mere 105 grams. There are other smartphones that have been made that may be thinner in some areas. But the NEC Medias is the first to have a uniformly thin body from top to bottom. And its features are in no way limited by its relatively thin profile.

The NEC Medias Smartphone features a 4 inch display and runs on Android 2.2. DoCoMo announced that it will also feature a 1Seg TV Tuner and a Felica NFC mobile wallet service. Other expected features include an infrared-based data exchange and a quick shot photo function that can take consecutive photos in about every second. DoCoMo says that the NEC Medias will be available on March 15. No word yet on how much it will cost Japanese consumers to have one.

NEC Develops First Non-Contact Fingerprint Scanner

NEC has recently announces that it has developed the world’s first finger vein authentication device with a non-contact fingerprint scanner. The device, called the HS100-10, combines both finger vein and fingerprint authentication to make identification of individuals more accurate despite its non-contact feature. In using this device, individuals only need to wave a finger in front of the scanner for it to read both the finger vein as well as the fingerprint for identification.

Fingerprint authentication has long been used to identify individuals through their unique set of finger prints. But scanners can sometimes find it difficult to read them, depending on the condition of the finger being scanned. A dry or sweat-laden finger can easily affect effective identifying by a contact scanner. But with the development of the HS100-10, NEC aims to do away with such problems and issues and still get accurate fingerprint and finger vein readings and authentication. The new NEC HS100-10 Non-Contact Fingerprint Scanner is expected to ship around April, although pricing has not yet been provided.

Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 Tablet

With tablets becoming more and more popular, it would only take some time before a lot of them get to compete in a tight consumer market. In order to do well, newer tablet PC’s should try to focus on a certain market segment for a better chance at success. This may be what Fujitsu is aiming for when it recently released its new Stylistic Q550 Tablet targeted for business use.

The new Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 is a business-class slate tablet that features high security enhancements required for mobile enterprise computing. Up front, the Fujitsu Q550 comes with an Intel Atom 1.5 GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 10.1 inch multi-touch screen with LED backlight. It also comes with an HDMI port, Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi connectivity and with the optional 3G support. Users may have the choice between a 30GB or 62GB internal memory models.

For added security enhancements, the Fujitsu Q550 Stylistic Slate PC will incorporate features such as fingerprint authentication, smart card reader, and an embedded security chip and encrypted SSD. The new Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 tablet is expected to enter the Japanese market around April or May. It is expected to cost from 89,000 to 99,000 Japanese Yen.

Canon Powershot G12 Quick Review

Canon's Powershot G-series is a stalwart of the high-end compact camera market. Originally designed to offer film SLR users a (relatively) affordable ladder into enthusiast digital imaging, over the past ten years G-series cameras have evolved to become what they are now - aspirational, high-quality compact cameras and attractive second bodies for existing DSLR users, fitting into the niche between 'mainstream' compact offerings and small DSLRS.

As you may have seen in our recent high-end compact camera group test, competition in this segment of the market is fierce. But not only does the Canon Powershot G12 have to contend with this most recent crop of compact cameras, it also faces stiff competition from an entirely new category - mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. In recent months, Panasonic, Olympus, Sony and Samsung have started attacking the high-end compact market aggressively with high-quality, but small cameras with much larger (APS-C or Four Thirds) sensors. A camera like the recently unveiled Olympus PEN E-PL2 with its collapsible 14-42mm kit zoom isn't much bigger (or more expensive) than the G12, and it has a considerably larger Four Thirds sensor (over 5x the light-collecting area).

Along with the Nikon Coolpix P7000, the Canon Powershot G12 is the largest 'traditional' (i.e. fixed lens, small sensor) compact camera currently available. Is the convenience of its 28-140mm (equivalent) built-in zoom and articulated LCD enough to make it stand out from today's crop of compact and mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras? Motorola Xoom Tablet to Debut in Verizon

Verizon Wireless announced it will start selling Motorola Mobility’s Xoom tablet on Thursday, February 24. The tablet, which runs on Google’s latest Android OS, will cost US$600 with a two-year contract. The cost of data service, meanwhile, will start at $20 for 1GB of bandwidth per month.

Motorola Xoom users will be able to upgrade to Verizon’s 4G data service for free. There will also be a Wi-Fi enabled version of the tablet. It is unclear, however, when these will happen.

The Xoom runs on Android 3.0, also known as Honeycomb, which is designed specifically for tablets. It can store 32GB of files and features dual cameras for video conference and a Flash video player.

Buyers who wanted a no-strings-attached Motorola Xoom can purchase it for $800.
